10 ways to avoid certain death.

Bookmark and Share

We like to think of the wisdom dispensed here at Holistic Survival as being handy for the modern survivalist, but let us not forget there have been centuries of American folklore wisdom passed down generation to generation long before we arrived on the scene. Here are a few (10 to be exact) inviolate rules that must be observed in order to stay alive.

1. Never add-on to the back of your house.

2. Never cut a new window in an old house. If you do, the only way to avoid fatal consequences is to toss your apron through the new window, and then jump through it yourself.

3. Never drive a nail after sunset.

4. Don’t move into an unfinished house.

5. Don’t carry axes, shovels, or other sharp-edged tools through the house. If you must tempt fate by taking one inside, make sure you take it back out the same door.

6. If you move out of a house, don’t move back into it until one year has passed.

7. Don’t hang your sweetheart’s picture upside down.

8. If a picture falls from the wall, don’t pick it up.

9. Never carry a peacock’s feather into your house.

10. Keep cut flowers out of bedrooms overnight.

Bet you’ll be able to breathe a whole lot easier now that you’ve been let into the secret “Avoiding Death” club.
