A dead soldier’s opinion

Douglas MacArthurNot just any soldier but the renowned, General Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander of the Pacific Fleet during World War II had the following to say about our beloved federal government frequent attempts to pretend that the very survival of our nation is at stake:

“Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstrous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it. Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear – kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor – with the cry of grave national emergency.”

Those words ring true today, though recent events seem aimed at a federal power grab of historic proportions. Bailing out Wall Street because certain corporations are “too big to fail.” For all practical purposes assuming control of the auto industry to insure it’s survival. Isn’t that what Hugo Chavez did in Venezuela? We’ve got to stop drilling for oil anywhere in the United States in case some is accidentally spilled.

The politics of fear continues unabated. Makes little difference whether there’s a Republican or Democrat currently warming the Oval Office seat at 1600 Pennsylvania. As a tool of the political class, this tactic transcends party lines, and is used as a not-so-subtle ploy of misdirection to keep the populace worked into a frenzy about certain things while ignoring certain others.

And keep in mind, for mass mind control, there’s nothing better than television! Holistic Survival thinks that particular dead soldier hit the nail on the head.
