Before the kids start glowing…

Bookmark and Share

emergency preparednessIn this day and age of radioactive threats from a variety of sources, your emergency preparedness should include radiation detecting equipment. You could choose to stick your head in the sand and pretend like nuclear plants never have an accident (Three Mile Island, Chernobyl), nuclear waste is always disposed of properly (Yucca Mountain), and terrorists don’t really want to get a hold of one of those things anyway (Really, we don’t).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the world has been growing increasingly dangerous ever since the atom was split. If you’ve already taken your share of survival precautions for your family – good for you – here’s one more.

Radiation threats are a different kind of beast. You can’t see, hear, taste, or feel it until the damage is done. Something as simple as a Geiger counter can buy your family the precious few minutes it takes to keep living. As we’ve discussed in the past, there are methods to mitigate radiation exposure and even survive, but only if you know the danger exists.

Don’t wait until the kids are glowing green! And don’t rely on the government to accurately communicate the threat level. Exposure patterns can shift with the breeze. In an emergency condition, you need instant accuracy about where the radiation is. While we hesitate to recommend companies we haven’t personally tried, KI4U Inc. has been receiving good write-ups for their selection of radiation detection equipment available to the public.

Holistic Survival believes this topic is important enough to urge you to do your research and get protected.
