Or would you simply throw up your hands, scarf down a final bite of that Snickers Bar and say, “Go ahead, trample and gore me. I have no chance to escape and haven’t even seen my feet in years.”

If the preceding describes you, Holistic Survival is here to tell you that you don’t have to invest in a personal trainer or high-priced diet program to turn that flabby body back into polished steel. Well, maybe polished steel is a stretch for most of us but at least closer to the way God, Mother Nature, Charles Darwin, or Karma intended. You owe it to your family and future generations to stay alive. Here’s what we suggest you do.

1. Drink Water: You’ve heard it a million times if you’ve heard it once. Taking in adequate water is the single most important change you can make for your health. In our sugar drink nation, most people are walking around chronically dehydrated. Drink half your body weight in ounces daily. You’ll be amazed how much better you’ll feel in a week.

2. Eat More: Wait! That doesn’t mean eat more food, but rather to spread your daily intake over five to seven smaller meals. Eating three squares a day overloads the digestive system. Smaller, more frequent meals allow it to keep pace.

3. Know Thy Enemy Salt: Chances are you love salt. Salt causes your body to hang onto water, which clogs up your metabolism and makes it hard to lose weight. Start by skipping your usual wrist spasm sprinkle of the white stuff on top of every food group at every meal, then move on to actually reading labels and reducing intake that way.

4. Exercise: Don’t waste your money on a fancy machine or gym membership. Something as simple as walking half an hour a day will work wonders for your physique over the course of the next six months. Combine activity with the first three steps we’ve given and expect to be amazed.
