Meltdown antidote?

One of the most pressing issues with exposure to nuclear radiation is the development of thyroid cancer. Especially at risk are children and fetuses. While we at Holistic Survival love the idea of building more nuclear power plants to wean ourselves from Middle Eastern oil, we also remember names like Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. It makes sense to be prepared for the worst.

What many people never knew, or may have forgotten, is that potassium iodide pills taken within a few hours of radiation exposure fill the thyroid with iodine and block absorption of radioactive iodine. It’s that simple. A law passed in 2002 requires that local health departments issue potassium iodide pills to all citizens living within 20 miles of one of the 104 nuclear reactor plants in the United States.

Do you want to rely upon the government to keep you safe from anything? Hopefully the answer to that question is a resounding “No!”

Here’s your answer. Potassium Iodide USP is available in bulk from chemical supply houses, and you can easily mix your own radioactivity “antidote” solution. Make sure you get the USP grade. To create the solution in bulk, mix one lb of Potassium Iodide with 17.5 liters of water. Obviously you can make lesser quantities by downsizing the recipe. Mix well and take for ten days in the event the worst happens. Adult dosage is 1 teaspoon; children 3 to 18 years of age should take half that amount. Give ¼ teaspoon for children 1 month to 3 years old, and 1/8 teaspoon for newborns.

And now you have a meltdown antidote.

Good luck out there!
