The EPA can’t protect your water

survival tipsLast year (September 13) the New York Times published an article detailing how 1 in 10 Americans are drinking tainted tap water. Their source? The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), who just happen to be the dudes and dudettes charged with keeping the world around us clean. Uh oh, look’s like the nanny state is shirking their duties.

What do you do with a babysitter who endangers the kids? Fire them!

Exactly what is creeping into our drinking water? Here’s the quote:

“…1 in 10 Americans have been exposed to drinking water that contains dangerous chemicals or fails to meet a federal health benchmark in other ways.” The story goes on to mention carcinogens in tap water and other unsafe chemicals in well water, most of which are undetectable to the public because they have no scent or taste.

Other than the obvious suggestion that you keep your immune system as strong as possible through proper diet and drinking more bottled water, what else can John Q. Public do to protect himself from the EPA’s inability to keep our water clean? At Holistic Survival, we think a filtration system at the tap is a good idea and the process of reverse osmosis probably the best. We don’t want to recommend a particular manufacturer. Crank up Google, roll up your sleeves and do a little research.

Survival tip for the day – don’t rely on the EPA!
