Water, water, everywhere, but not a drop to drink.

The problem is not that there’s too little water on planet earth. The problem is there is not enough fresh water in the right places. Consider that the southwest region of the United States is one of the most rapidly growing in the nation and has a declining water table. Next consider that most of it is friggin’ desert!

Let’s see, people need water to survive. Millions are relocating to areas where the water supply is already stretched as thin as a rubber band.

Anyone see the potential for trouble here?

If you’re a government bureaucrat or lifetime politician, probably not. The point is this – if you live in an arid area, it is an even more severe mandate that you take the topic of food and water storage seriously. How long do you think your family could survive a regional water emergency in a place where it hardly ever rains? What if water rationing becomes reality?

What a sense of security you’ll feel if you had the forethought to store three to six months of water for just that scenario. If you’re interested in learning more about the red hot topic of water rights in the desert, check out the excellent book Cadillac Desert by Marc Reisner.
