Irvine, California – July 8, 2010 – Episode three of the Holistic Survival Show includes Michael Panzner, author of “Financial Armageddon” and “When Giants Fall.” Panzner clarifies what he believes the future will looks like for most Americans after the “economic unraveling” has taken place. Individual and government debt, government guarantees, the retirement system and derivatives are believed, by Panzner, to be the four major financial problems looming on the horizon.
Panzner’s gloomy outlook on America’s future begins to come clear towards the middle of the episode when he states, “The resources that we have come to think are almost limitless, like food and water, as well as energy and other commodities aren’t limitless, and that there’s going to be more conflict and more of a grab for people to make sure they have their share… as a result, the world is going to become less cooperative and less flat,” referring to the best-selling book, “The World is Flat.”
He goes on to explain that American’s may even have the kind of environment you see in poorer countries where there is a community of close friends, family and neighbors; those you can trust, and those you cannot.
When asked about what another Great Depression would look like in modern day, Panzner states, “You could very easily get to a situation, for example, where money becomes increasingly tight, so you start to see things break down. Roads break down because they’re not being maintained…The cost of energy becomes prohibitive, so certain parts of the South, Southwest in particular, become ghost towns. In total, it’s not going to be a pretty picture.”
Although a pessimistic view of the future, Panzner still hopes he is wrong about what is to come. He does feel the need of perspective in order to stay prepared and informed while keeping others informed about the potential “Financial Armageddon;” he urges others to do the same.
