Sugar, the sweetest death

As a modern survivalist, it is to your great advantage to keep your body in optimal health. That means, when it comes to food, put in more of the good stuff and less of the bad. It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that sugar is literally white death to your immune system. Here are some facts to ponder: a 75 gram portion of sugar will suppress the immunity capacity of your cells by 50% for 120 minutes. That’s about how long it takes for maximum suppression to occur. Your immune system will stay depressed for about five hours longer.

Why is the immune system so important? As the body’s first line of defense against disease and illness, a poorly tuned immune system leaves you open for colds, flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, sore throats, infections, and more. In a survival situation, you can’t afford to have your physical condition compromised by a diet of nutritionally empty foods.

If you do nothing else to improve your diet this year, try a drastic reduction in sugar intake. It won’t be easy. The Big Food Industry is doing their best to keep you addicted to their products through a skillful manipulation of your taste buds, but you can do it if you really want to. And don’t forget to increase your liquid intake.
