What is your disaster personality?

HolisticSurvival.comWhat kind of person do you become when the ever-lovin’ excrement hits the fan? Do you function calmly and rationally or go to pieces so fast people get hit by the shrapnel? In the interest of perpetuation of the species, we at Holistic Survival hope it’s more of the former and less of the latter.

There are five factors you should cultivate in your disaster personality in order to keep yourself and family alive and safe.

1. Have a positive attitude. This one is perhaps the most important of all, and most difficult to implement for some people. A positive attitude allows you to learn from both good and bad experiences and use that knowledge to make better decisions going forward.

2. Knowledge. Absolutely without fail obstacles will present themselves. Having survival knowledge gives you a fighting chance to figure out ways around them.

3. Control Anxiety Level. A high stress level causes poor decision-making. Take a deep breath and engage your brain first.

4. Body Weight. Being fat can literally get you killed in a survival situation. The law of the jungle applies here – those operating at a lower level of fitness are more likely to perish. You need energy, stamina, and flexibility. Since the majority of Americans are overweight, our odds of mass survival don’t look good right now.

5. Training. Plan and practice your escape route from the house and city. Anticipate various likely emergency scenarios and train your family how to respond to each.

Implementing the preceding into your disaster personality will go a long ways toward surviving and thriving when in the event of disaster or major societal change.
